* * Opportunity to volunteer: Metter High School is hosting Teen Maze on Thursday, October 29 and is looking for Counselor Ed volunteers. This event will last all day and can be a good opportunity to use your counseling skills. For those of you who do not know what Teen Maze is, it is an event where students experience the possible reprecussions associated with partying and other behaviors exhibited by some high school students. The students will attend a "party" that gets busted by real police officers. Some students will be arrested, some will die in car accidents, and some will get an STD. This experience allows them to see the potential consequences of their behaviors. It can be emotional for some students which is the need for counselors' participation but it will be a great learning experience for all. The city police department as well as GBI do volunteer as well. Metter Middle School hosted a teen maze already and it was a great success. Please email me at LW01012@georgiasouthern.edu or melbel0825@yahoo.com if you have any questions or would like to participate. Thank you!

Dear Graduate Students,
My name is Stella Michael-Makri and I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of Counseling at Texas A&M University-Commerce. I am conducting my dissertation research to identify students’ perceptions of experiences with various aspects of prejudice and discrimination they might have had in their graduate program. The findings of this study will benefit the field of counselor education by providing insight into the current state of affairs in counseling programs from the perspective of racial and ethnic minority students. It will also encourage faculty to recognize what might be a healthy or unhealthy environment for such students and make necessary changes that would help these students succeed. I am respectfully requesting your participation in my research.
You will be required to complete a demographic questionnaire and a survey. It should take about 10-15 minutes to complete both. Responses will be anonymous and all information gathered will remain confidential.
Here is the link for participants to access the informed consent form, demographic questionnaire, and survey:
